Dr. Donohue, Chief of Cardiology at UPMC Shadyside, recommends Resveratrol supplements for many of his patients, particularly Vindure 900. Resveratrol has been shown to support a healthy heart and vascular system, and healthy brain function. Research studies have found strong links between the ingredients in Vindure 900, Resveratrol, Red Win Polyphenols, and Quercetin, and protection against many of the conditions of aging. This is due to the the “double action” of the ingredients – powerful antioxidants to counter the damaging effects of free radicals in the body, and activation of the Sirt Genes, which have been shown to play a key role in longevity.

In 2007, Drug giant Glaxo purchased Sirtris Pharmaceuticals for $720 Million. Sirtris is now in the test phase of several drugs for the treatment of Cancer and Diabetes, based on the Resveratrol molecule. Sirtris gets its name from the well know ability of Resveratrol to activate the SIRT genes, which produce the Sirtuin enzymes. Resveratrol is one of many Polyphenols found in red wine grapes which are believed to underlie the “French Paradox,” the observation that people in France live longer and healthier than others, despite a high-calorie, high-fat diet.

Although Glaxo is still years away from having an FDA approved drug for sale, Pfizer, a major Glaxo competitor, has begun the competitive battle, casting doubt on Glaxo’s claims. Yet Pfizer’s own researcher, Dr. Kay Ahn was quoted in an article last month in Nature magazine, and downplayed the significance of her study. “Under our conditions we didn’t see beneficial effects, but we don’t want to make a big conclusion out of those results,” she said.

Glaxo said in a statement that “scientific debate around the interpretation of data is a normal part of discovery in emerging areas of research.” It maintains that Pfizer’s interpretation of data “is at odds with multiple studies conducted at Sirtris and those published by independent investigators.” The company added that the “purity of the compounds that were used in their study … cannot be ascertained due to the lack of data provided. The publication also does not cite nor discuss multiple scientific publications which are in direct contrast to their primary conclusions; as such it is unclear how to place this work in perspective of what has been found by other investigators.”

Vinomis Laboratories, makers of the over-the-counter supplement Vindure 900, based on Resveratrol, Quercetin, and other red wine grape polyphenols, reports that their customers are reporting results consistent with the Resveratrol studies done at Harvard Medical School. Says Barry Yarkoni, CEO, “whether the benefits are the result of Sirtuin activation will be the subject of much ongoing research. However, the benefits that people are experiencing from our product are very real regardless of what scientists determine the exact mechanisms to be.”

Dr. Bryan Donohue, Vinomis Chief Medical Advisor, was featured on KDKA’s Good Morning Pittsburgh show. Dr. Donohue reviewed the thousand year history and 50 years of research on Resveratrol, all in 6 minutes. He explained that it has always been observed that “near starvation” causes people to stop aging, as long as they don’t die of starvation. Scientists have discovered that this adversity activates “survival genes” in the body. Research over the past 10 years has identified these genes as the SIRT genes, which produce Sirtuins. Resveratrol seems to have the same affect on the SIRT genes, elevating the Sirtuins, but without the starvation. Research on laboratory animals has confirmed that this can indeed, increase lifespan, especially in cases where obesity or other conditions might otherwise shorten it. Resveratrol, along with Quercetin are found in red wine, dark chocolate, and other plants.

Dr. Donohue was asked what kind of benefits his patients on Vindure are experiencing. In addition to almost “across the board” reports of increased energy and verve, Dr. Donahue has seen improvements in the “insulin curve” of many patients. The science behind Resveratrol, and Vindure, says Dr. Donohue, “is jaw-dropping.”

A research group led by Carlos T. Moraes, Ph.D., professor of neurology and cell biology and anatomy at the Miller School, has published new findings about how increased mitochondrial levels may improve overall health and increase longevity.

According to the article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, the researchers increased the amount of mitochondria in a mouse model by a transgenic expression of a gene called PGC-1α. The protein produced by this gene controls the expression of many genes that are involved in mitochondrial biogenesis.

“Vindure has nearly doubled my endurance.” – Brian Dukate, Waynesburg, PA

I am a 45 year old Triathlete, and alternate my training between biking, swimming, and running. In April, I participated in a 48 mile bike race. By the end of the race, I was suffering from severe cramping and muscle lock up. In May, I began taking Vindure, and after only three weeks, the results I experienced were remarkable. While biking, my heart rate is lower, the cramps have nearly disappeared, and my recovery time is faster. In June, I participated in the MS150 event, and cycled 88 miles, the farthest I have ever achieved. I experienced virtually no cramping despite going twice as far, and my recovery time was dramatically reduced. I heartily recommend Vindure to every athlete!”

This result is consistent with several strength and endurance human trials conducted by Vinomis on its formulation and ingredients with Dr. James Smoliga of Marywood University, and studies done in France by Naturex.

Vindure has 400 mg 98% pure trans-Resveratrol, 400 mg whole red wine grape extract, and 100 mg Quercetin — the is the most concentrated formulation on the market today.

There is a lot of Internet chatter and false information being spread about Resveratrol dosage, claiming that a high dosage is “bad” for you. This is simply not true, and false information.

There are numerous human clinical trials, and studies by the National Institute of Environmental Health, and even animal studies to prove it. Of course, companies that sell a low-dosage ( 50 – 200 mg of Resveratrol) — will try to convince you otherwise. Those companies will tell you that you either don’t need more quantity. They may even tell you that their resveratrol is “more potent”. This just doesn’t make sense.

In 2002, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences commissioned a report entitled, “Trans-resveratrol Review of Toxicological Literature.” A review of more than 200 referenced scientific studies were included, and the report stated that there were no reported adverse effects from Resveratrol on humans.

Animal studies have used the human-equivalent of over 1,000 mg (10 mg/kg of bodyweight) of Resveratrol, and have shown no toxic effects. Massive dosage studies were also performed on animals. “The no observed adverse affect level (NOAEL) was 300 mg/kg/day,” which would be a human equivalent dosage of 30,000 mg or 10 – 100 times the maximum concentrations contained in human high-concentration oral nutraceutical dosages, such as in Vinomis’ Vindure 900 and others.

Human studies also confirm the safety and effectiveness of Resveratrol in highly concentrated forms. Studies including those at Marywood University, University of Leicester (UK) and University of Michigan, etc. all found no significant side effects and no evidence of toxicity

In 2006, Xenomis conducted a study on humans with Dr. James Smoliga of Marywood University (2006) using the formulation:

400 mg of 98% pure Resveratrol

400 mg Red Wine Grape extract

100 mg Quercetin

The Smoliga study showed no side-effects, and significant improvements in energy level, strength, endurance, and verbal memory. A second study is underway with 400 mg of Naturex red-wine grape extract.

World Renowned Professors Speak

We recently posed this question of Resveratrol Dosage to two(2) world-renowned Professors at Marywood University and the University of Pennsylvania who have been doing research on Resveratrol for over 7 years. Here are their email responses.

Dr. Smoliga:

“I beleve there are one or two articles examining the pharmacokinetics of it [dosage] (combined with safety) which found it to be safe in up to 5g [5,000 mg] doses, I believe. It appears that with dosages in the 400 mg range, it reaches a peak and then subsides, whereas in the 1g (1,000 mg) or more range, higher blood concentrations are maintained. However, I believe it is not yet certain whether which would be more advantageous – to have a rise in fall in resveratrol concentration or a steady level of resveratrol. Based on some of the physiology, I would think a rise and fall mechanism would actuallly be more beneficial, and if this is the case the 400mg dosage should work quite nicely.”

[Note that Vindure 900 contains 400 mg of trans-Resveratrol, and 400 mg of Red Wine Grape extract]

Dr. Baur:

“I have attached one of the clinical trials Dr. S mentioned. Sirtris also went up to 5g [5,000 mg] of their “SRT501″ formulation without any ill effects:”

http://www.drugs.com/clinical_trials/sirtris-announces-positive-results-proprietary-version-resveratrol-srt501-phase-1b-type-2-diabetes-3127.html

“We used ~5-30 mg/kg in our mice, and Johan Auwerx used 200-400 mg/kg. If you subscribe to the “allometric scaling” by body surface area method, you divide by 12 to go from mouse to human, yielding ~150 mg or ~2g [2,000 mg] as the respective human-equivalent doses. But since other polyphenols may have an additive or synergistic effect, I think it’s quite likely that Vindure is delivering the effect of a 2g [2,000 mg] dose of pure resveratrol.”

***Whatever you buy, make sure to read the product Supplement Facts. It’s the only way to be sure what you’re getting. If you can’t find them on the company’s website, I sincerely recommend not buying that supplement. Here are the Vindure 900 Supplement Facts

Vinomis is not named in the lawsuit, and does not practice the kind of marketing techniques outlined in Ms. Winfrey’s and Dr. Oz’s lawsuit. (Case 1:09-cv-07297-DAB in the Southern District of New York)

“We applaud Ms. Winfrey and Dr. Oz for investigating and taking this action,” said Mark Juliano, President and CEO of Vinomis Laboratories. “These types of marketing activities tarnish the whole industry, and are delighted that Ms. Winfrey and Dr. Oz have decided to take strong action.”
Resveratrol, fish oils, Acai berries, and other nutraceuticals mentioned in the lawsuit do possess many positive health benefits. There is no need to use deceptive marketing tactics, as the products and scientific studies speak for themselves.

“Vinomis uses no celebrity endorsements in its marketing,” commented Barry Yarkoni, Marketing Vice President, “Our endorsements are from doctors, patients, researchers, and customers.”

Vinomis maintains a “co-compromise” approach to product quality, and complements this with honesty and openness in its marketing activities. For example, the quantity of Resveratrol in Vindure 900 is conservatively stated on the Supplement Facts label. While there is actually 428mg of polygonum cuspidatum extract, the product label lists only 400mg of pure trans-Resveratrol to compensate for the 98% purity, and allowing for a long shelf life.

The Vinomis Red Wine Extract contains over 90% polyphenols. Testing performed at Brunswick Laboratories, determined an ORAC value of 19,638 per tablet. The manufacturing plant where Vindure is produced is FDA, TGA, USP, and NSF certified. All the ingredients used in our products have been tested in human clinical trials.

The Vinomis website is accurate and straightforward. The home page, and other pages, list the precise ingredients contained in our products, and the full Supplement Facts label is available for viewing. Each web page contains contact information including the Vinomis toll-free phone number (877-484-6664) and email address (support@vinomis.com).
The founders of Vinomis Laboratories are doctors, university professors, and former executives of major Fortune 500 companies in the nutraceutical, consumer products, and technology industries.

Vindure is available through the company’s website at Vinomis.com, and through a network of retailers and medical professionals who are recommending Vindure to patients. Vindure 900 includes pure Resveratrol, Quercetin, and red wine grape extract from Bordeaux.
