When polyphenols including Resveratrol are concentrated into a daily tablet equivalent to over 100 Bottles of red wine, there is one initial question: Is It Safe?

Indeed, scientists who study these nutraceutical supplements have and are continuing to use similar techniques to those used in the pharmaceutical industry to evaluate their potential health benefits and safety.

In 2002, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences commissioned a report entitled, “Trans-resveratrol Review of Toxicological Literature.” This included a review of more than 200 referenced scientific studies which reported no adverse effects from Resveratrol. Animal studies have used the human-equivalent of over 5,000 mg of Resveratrol, and have shown no toxic effects. These animal studies use Resveratrol concentrations that are often 10 – 100 times the maximum concentrations observed in humans after oral dosage.

Human studies also confirm the safety of Resveratrol in highly concentrated forms. Studies including those at Marywood University, University of Leicester (UK) and University of Michigan, all found no significant side effects and no evidence of toxicity.

Resveratrol supplements have been on the market for more than 6 years, and numerous patients, companies and doctors have reported their safety.

Vindure 900 contains over 400 mg of 98% pure Resveratrol plus 500 mg of Red Wine grape extracts and Quercetin. CLICK HERE to purchase Vindure 900.

A great deal has been written about red wine nutrition, red wine grape extracts, and the benefits of red wine including muscadine.

Muscadine grapes are native to North America, and may be the only fruit that originated in America and nowhere else. These grapes grow almost exclusively in southeastern United States mostly in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Florida. Triving under adverse conditions due to their thicker and tougher skin.

Muscadine grapes have an extra chromosome that may allow the grapes to produce a unique phytochemical ellagic acid, which is a polyphenol compound absent in many other grapes. Ellagic acid is a powerful antioxidant, much like Resveratrol, Quercetin, and others.

Muscadine grapes and red wine nutrition have been studied in organisms, animals and humans and have shown positive results in the areas of cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, and other inflammatory conditions. The Resveratrol content in Muscadine grapes is higher than many other Red Wine grapes, although extracts from Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Bordeaux, and others also have a very high percent concentration of Resveratrol and other polyphenols.

Resveratrol & EGCG Help Regulate Blood Sugar in Type 2 Diabetics

Red wine has been shown to protect people from heart disease, even when they follow a diet high in saturated fat, and the healing powers of tea are becoming the stuff of legend. Now, researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst have shown that these beverages may hold promise for regulating the blood sugar of people with type 2 diabetes.

Results have been published in the Journal of Food Biochemistry. Researchers include food scientists Kalidas Shetty, Young-In Kwon and Emmanouil Apostolidis.

“Levels of blood sugar, or blood glucose, rise sharply in patients with type 2 diabetes immediately following a meal,” says Shetty. “Red wine and tea contain natural antioxidants that may slow the passage of glucose through the small intestine and eventually into the bloodstream and prevent this spike, which is an important step in managing this disease.”

The burning question with nutraceuticals is, “if prepared under the same standards as pharmaceutical drugs, would some natural nutraceuticals compete with products from drug companies?”

There is substantial evidence that this is TRUE, such as those found findings shown in studies with Resveratrol, Quercetin and Red Wine Grape extracts and polyphenols.

The fact is that there are competing factors in the field of Resveratrol, as well as other natural substance products. The pharmaceutical industry is regulated by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and in general is not interested in natural products that would potentially compete with their own pharmaceutical products. Indeed these companies would have great difficulty obtaining patents, and would not be able to charge the large prices associated with drugs.

On the other hand, nutraceuticals are exempt from the FDA approval process, and are not required to go through approval before coming to market. They do; however, have regulation with respect to safety, as well as unproven and unsubstantiated marketing claims made by companies. In addition, even if nutraceutical companies could cure cancer or any other disease, they are not allowed to make such claims.

This debate will undoubtedly rage on for many years and decades, but the fact remains — many natural substances like Resveratrol provide countless heath benefits for humans.

Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and their companies have filed a lawsuit against a long list of companies using thier names and images to market nutritional supplements based on Resveratrol and other nutraceutical ingredients. Vinomis Laboratories applauds this effort to shut down deceptive practices which hurt our entire industry.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) September 15, 2009 — It has come to the attention of Vinomis Laboratories that certain companies, not including Vinomis have been named in a lawsuit from Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Mehmet Oz concerning unauthorized and potentially illegal use of their names in the marketing and supposed endorsements of nutraceutical supplement products. Vinomis is not named in the lawsuit, and does not practice the kind of marketing techniques outlined in Ms. Winfrey’s and Dr. Oz’s lawsuit. (Case 1:09-cv-07297-DAB in the Southern District of New York)

“We applaud Ms. Winfrey and Dr. Oz for investigating and taking this action,” said Mark Juliano, President and CEO of Vinomis Laboratories. “These types of marketing activities tarnish the whole industry, and are delighted that Ms. Winfrey and Dr. Oz have decided to take strong action.”

Resveratrol, fish oils, Acai berries, and other nutraceuticals mentioned in the lawsuit do possess many positive health benefits. There is no need to use deceptive marketing tactics, as the products and scientific studies speak for themselves.

“Vinomis uses no celebrity endorsements in its marketing,” commented Barry Yarkoni, Marketing Vice President, “Our endorsements are from doctors, patients, researchers, and customers.”

Vinomis maintains a “co-compromise” approach to product quality, and complements this with honesty and openness in its marketing activities. For example, the quantity of Resveratrol in Vindure 900 is conservatively stated on the Supplement Facts label. While there is actually 428mg of polygonum cuspidatum extract, the product label lists only 400mg of pure trans-Resveratrol to compensate for the 98% purity, and allowing for a long shelf life.

The Vinomis Red Wine Extract contains over 90% polyphenols. Testing performed at Brunswick Laboratories, determined an ORAC value of 19,638 per tablet. The manufacturing plant where Vindure is produced is FDA, TGA, USP, and NSF certified. All the ingredients used in our products have been tested in human clinical trials.

The Vinomis website is accurate and straightforward. The home page, and other pages, list the precise ingredients contained in our products, and the full Supplement Facts label is available for viewing. Each web page contains contact information including the Vinomis toll-free phone number (877-484-6664) and email address (support@vinomis.com).
The founders of Vinomis Laboratories are doctors, university professors, and former executives of major Fortune 500 companies in the nutraceutical, consumer products, and technology industries.

Vindure is available through the company’s website at Vinomis.com, and through a network of retailers and medical professionals who are recommending Vindure to patients. Vindure 900 includes pure Resveratrol, Quercetin, and red wine grape extract from Bordeaux.
